Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric or Fujitsu General: which Japanese air conditioner
"A Japanese air conditioner" is the most common requirement we hear, and for good reason: all three brands make their own compressors and electronics and have the lowest defect rates in our service records since 2007. The differences are in the details.

Daikin: the benchmark, widest range
The largest HVAC maker in the world and the only one that makes its own refrigerant. Sensira (entry), Comfora, Perfera (A+++ both ways, −20°C, 19 dB), the design Stylish and Emura, Ururu Sarara with humidification. Strengths: best heating efficiency in class, very quiet outdoor units, service everywhere. Weakness: the highest price for the same figures.
Mitsubishi Electric: the winter specialist
MSZ-AP is the workhorse, MSZ-HR the entry, Kirigamine (MSZ-LN, MSZ-FH) the flagship with a 3D presence sensor, plasma filter and Hyper Heating to −25°C. Strengths: the best low-temperature heating output and the longest compressor life in our statistics. Weakness: fewer design models.
Fujitsu General: the best value among the Japanese
Sold in Europe also as General. The KM and KG series are compact and efficient for the money; KETA/KGTB give A+++ and about 20 dB. Strengths: 15–25% below Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric at similar reliability, compact indoor units. Weakness: fewer smart features in the entry models.
Who each brand is for
By the requirements we hear most often:
- Primary heating in a cold area: Mitsubishi Electric Kirigamine / Hyper Heating, then Daikin Perfera
- Quietest bedroom: Daikin Perfera or Stylish, Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-LN, Fujitsu KETA
- Best price for Japanese quality: Fujitsu General KM/KG
- Design: Daikin Emura and Stylish
- Allergies and clean air: Mitsubishi Electric plasma filter, Daikin Flash Streamer
What is the same
Similar warranty through the official importers, R32, 7000–24000 BTU ranges and parts in Bulgaria. The reliability gap between them is smaller than the gap between a good and a bad installation. Toshiba and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are also Japanese brands with excellent reputations and often better prices; we offer both.
